Every once in a while, a project comes along that reminds us why we started building arcades in the first place — and this one was truly something special. We had the incredible opportunity to work with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg on a one-of-a-kind custom pinball machine. Known for shaping the cinematic world with some of the most iconic films of all time, Steven entrusted us with a project that paid tribute to where it all began: his very first movie. We designed a full custom artwork wrap for a virtual pinball cabinet, featuring striking visuals inspired by his early work, and developed custom pinball software tailored specifically for him.
Unlike traditional pinball machines, this was a virtual build — offering access to thousands of pinball titles within a single sleek machine. Our arcade techs handled every detail of the software customization, bringing the vision to life in a way that combined nostalgia with cutting-edge arcade technology. We also outfitted the cabinet with a full force feedback package, including vibrating motors, knockers, and responsive nudging — so when you move the machine, the ball reacts just like it would on a real table. Paired with dynamic custom LED lighting, the machine delivered a fully immersive and interactive gameplay experience. Once completed, we hand-delivered the machine directly to Paramount Studios with white-glove service. We had the absolute honor of meeting Steven himself, who—despite the lingering effects of the COVID era and being masked—spent hours playing and enjoying his new machine. For us, it was a milestone moment that underscored just how far we’ve come in the arcade space.
